Today was quite intense, last night some English girls were shouting in the corridor, so I decided to sleep a bit longer. I woke up at 9.30 and after a reinvigorating shower I was ready for breakfast, nothing special, just some scramble eggs, ham and toasts, good enough to keep me going for a few hours.
The travel agency here at the guesthouse charges 700 bath to Sukhothai, no way I'll pay that amount, I'll see if I can find a better deal later on.
First stop for the day is the national history museum (200 bath), really interesting and luckily for me there were just few visitors. The red house was definitely the highlight of the museum.
After a coupe of hours at the museum I decided to cross the river (3 bath) and visit Wat Arun, the view from the top of the steep stairs is quite stunning, my legs however were not that happy on the way down as the steps are also sleeper.
Back to the other side of the river, I walked to the Siam museum, going there I got stopped and offered a tour of Bangkok for 20 bath, first scam, I just declined the nice offer and reached the very far museum (according to the tuk tuk driver) in 5 minutes. What an amazing surprise, the entrance that is usually 300 bath, is free after 4 and I even got offered 4 guides girls free. It was actually a group of students working on a project. Interesting experience, their English wasn't great but they were amazing. If the guy manage to send me the pictures you will have plenty to Lough about.
Back to the guesthouse, time to book my next accommodation and find a way to reach Sukhothai, it seems that all the agencies around here have fixed prices :'( not a surprise, I will have to try and buy the ticket from the station tomorrow morning.
Today on the menu we have cashews nuts with veggie and a banana smoothie, yesterday pad Thai was better but I love cashews nuts so it wasn't too bad, especially for a total of 80 bath.
Quick stop at the 7-11 to buy something for tomorrow's journey, approximately 7 hours. Hope the bus is comfy.
This is it for today, I think I've done enough for my first official day in Thailand
