Well it is 9:14, no sleep and sitting in a library in Salisbury (free net! woo)
Spent the night under the stars at Stonehenge at the Summer Solstive Festival!
Awesome experience, I must say.
1000's of pagans, druids hippy freaks and generals headed out to the henge early in the evening. We arrived just as the sun was setting over the henge - after jumping off the double decker we trekked through random paddocks up and down hills, thorugh cow patties and the like to be greeted by the henge.
Joined by our South African mate we parked up on a spot right by the henge, munching down on Falafal burgers and watching the numerous fire twirlers, jugglers, hola hooopers and the lone guy on the bag pipe. I think he was on something as his playing got slightly more erratic through out the night although he didnt make it to see the sunrise...
The circle of the henge was filled! Pagan processions were taking place and bongos were being played all around. To the centre of the henge we went - we gotto touch the stones (thanks to it being classed as a religious festival we were allowed on and around the henge). Packed in we managed to view what was happening - 2 crazy pagan ladies were dancing around naked in the middle of the henge in the freezing cold - crazy times.
The English like to call this summer! Rugged up in my sleeping bag i crashed on the grass...snoozing under the stars and watching the world go by...
Well sunrise came and went with a lovely English Shower! Wet and cold we waited, and waited and the sun didnt seem to come - so much for a summer sunrise - i havent seen the sun at all today...
Packing up our stuff, i decided the day before that flip flops with socks were a good choice - dont ask me why? But rain drenched them and i was forced to walk through the paddocks back to the bus in flip flops - i swear it was like 5 degrees out!
Any way off to maccas for a morning feast and now here i am waiting for the 10:35 bus to take me back to London...
Excited to get back and book £10.00 flight to Croatia so i can sit back and relax on the beach for a while after pamplona
Miss you all
love dani
