We moved onto to another free campsite, Jim Jim, in Kakadu. We had a look at Cooinda and Yellow Water, but pretty much lazed about. It was a hot day on Saturday and we didn't have a great deal of shade at this campground and there was definitely no swimming in the adjoining river! Kylie

We stopped in at the Bowali Visitor Centre for a bit of information on Kakadu before setting up at a free camp at Malabanjbanjdju. This was a lovely spot and had a walk from the camp area around a billabong so we gave this a go after setting up camp. We spent a morning at the Nourlangie rock art sites. Again we sat in on some Ranger talks so got a better appreciation of the art and the locals. After the talks we went for a walk around nearby Anbangbang billab...

We were late in getting away from Darwin, but we did make it in time to watch the sunset from the Nadab lookout at Ubirr in Kakadu National Park. This was pretty good over the floodplains. We spent the night at Merl campground nearby and headed back for a good look around Ubirr this morning. We sat in on a couple of Ranger talks which helps you understand more about the area. We are heading off from Darwin today. We didn't end up going to the races. Instead, we treated ourselves to a night out in town. It's been quiet but enjoyable here. We like having tv and internet again. I went to the movies again yesterday. I saw Sex and the City. Cried most of the way through it. We'll head into Kakadu today and then from there towards the west. Hope to be in touch soon. Kylie

We got into Darwin on Tuesday 24 July. For the time being we have set up camp at the BIG4 Free Spirit Resort for a couple of weeks. There is much to see and do at this time of year in Darwin; we have arrived at a good time. We had a wander around Darwin CBD and fish and chips for lunch at Stokes Wharf.
