Hey all,
Been busy as usual here's the deet's:
I spent 2 nights in Noosa, went to Steve Irwin Zoo (setup by him and his family), with a few mates martina, steve and freya (who I'm still travelling with). It was a really nice day out, the zoo is pretty exciting with lots going on including a show where they feed the crocs which looks pretty daring, we saw all sorts inc crocs, wombats, dingos, lizards, snakes a tazmanian devil and got to feed elephants and kangaroos and even hold a koala!
I also spent 3 days doing a self drive 4x4 tour of fraser island. This basically involves getting put into a group of 8 people and you then get a map and decide what you want to see as you go, sharing the driving between everyone who wants to do some. This activity has got to be the longest amount of just pure fun I've had so far, fraser island is at over 100ks long the largest sand island in the world, there's no roads there only beaches and very rough tracks to drive on. There's loads of beaches, lakes and forest to explore combined with some of the most bumpy rides i've ever had, by which I mean anyone sitting in the back was likely to leave their seats by up to about a foot and land somewhere else in the vehicle! We felt a clear obligation to test our vehicle out properly whilst we had access to it! (though we were relieved when we somehow got all our deposits back despite some of the horrendous noises it was making when we returned it). There was lots of wildlife to see including spiders, lizards, snakes, wild dingos, freshwater turtles and an eagle. This all combined to give it a really exciting, fun, adventuring feel! However the thing that made it the most fun was the way our group, most of whom hadn't ever met before got on like we'd been mates for ages rather than having just met, there was lots of banter and cheering when anyone hit a bump to fast or managed to stall in the loose sand. Each evening we camped just up off the beach and with some of the other 4x4 van groups, the first eve we had a big party and the second we just sat back talking and watching the impressive view of stars for hours. A great trip and made some real good new friends!
I'm now in Airlie beach and am leaving to do 3 days on a sailing/diving katamaran around the whitsunday islands so I'll fill you in on the details when I get back.
Cheers for the messages guys:
Leila: thx for the msg blitz! Glad you liked your cookie monster t-shirt, knew it would appeal to you somehow! I look forward to spending some time residing in my second home with the fearnes some day soon, since the kids have already allocated it ;)! Will be awesome to see them again! Guessing the bird you mention is mythical, it sounds it. I think I need the goon pic explained too but it made me laugh! xXxXx P.s. maybe you should ask the boys to help you out with the sums?
Matt: Sorry not ignoring you, would love to go to reading, read the email a while back and didn't have time to respond, then promptly forgot about it. Sorry. Can you sort me out with a ticket and I can square you up if you let me know what its cost you. I'm happy to drive us all there, should save us a fair bit of money and hassle. P.s. check out the taz pic in the zoo photo album i got that one just for you.
Chris: Thanks for backing up all my pics, glad you liked your present. Your def right about not as funny as the mountain boarding I still remember you flying into that fence and me doing a backwards summersault too! Am now really anticipating going to the festivals with you and Matt will be really nice to do it togethor!
Emma: Having a really exciting time here thanks and I've got lots more exciting stuff lined up! How's school and badminton going? Look forward to seeing you at the club when I get back. Love Dan xXxXx
