Dan and Lu's Travels
Spent the weekend doing absolutely nothing apart from lying on the beach or sat in the sun on the balcony of our bungalow, reading. I started and finished the Da Vinci Code - think I must be the last person in the world to read it. The electricity went off last night at a crucial part and stayed off until 9am this morning, which was annoying. On Libong the electricity goes off at midday everyday and comes back on at 5pm, which is fine because when you have a book, the beach and the sea, why do you need electricity? But a night under a mosquito net without a fan isn't very comfortable.
A guy from the resort took us to the mainland on a long tail boat this morning. We both really liked Libong especially as we had the place to ourselves, can't imagine there's many places you can say that.
We had no idea how we were going to get to Trang as there are no travel cafes around but we asked around and someone in a minivan was going and taking other locals.
After an iced coffee in a cafe talking to a very camp waiter in Trang, we found somewhere to stay.
There is a reason no one comes to Trang apart from to go on to an island. Its not horrible, in fact its Thailand's cleanest city. Its just what you'd expect from somewhere that only has that accolade to boast about. Boring. But we did go to the marker and buy some of the best roast pork peices we've ever tasted, and loads of crackling, all wrapped up in paper. Like Thai fish 'n' chips!
Then we did the only sensible thing you can do in a town this boring. We found a cafe bar and drank some jugs of beer. It started raining so we were there quite a while. In fact, so long that Dan got a free t-shirt as we'd drunk so many jugs.
