Dan and Lu's Travels
Uncle Mike dropped us off at the Greyhound station this morning for the 7 hour bus ride to Kingman. Dan got admiring comments about his outfit from a spaced out hippy dude on the bus, and even more admiring comments when he said he'd bought the top in Bangkok!
Sedona is on fire. The wild fire started a few days ago and has spread to Oak Creek Canyon, people have been evacuated from their homes. We drove past on the highway and saw billows of yellowy smoke.
I had my first experience of Dairy Queen in Flagstaff, which was not good, full off additives which left a horrid taste in my mouth.
From Flagstaff its only a few hours drive on a single road across the desert, to Kingman, nothing as far as you can see.
Kigman is strange; its just a town that looks like it has been picked up from somewhere else and dropped in the middle of the desert to cook.
Laura arrived a few minutes after we got off the bus and we drove about 50 minutes to Lake Havasu City.
Nic and her 19 month old daughter Madisson were waiting for us at the door. Madisson was a bit confused but she liked the koala bear we brought her from Oz!
Having not seen Laura or Nic for about 2 years there was quite a bit to catch up on! We sat up until the early hours talking, and drinking evrything in the house, which included beer, wine, whisky and jaegermeister....
