Well we finally on our way and here we are in NYC, even after an aborted landing at JFK when the wheels were down and the ground only what seemed 100ft below !! We caught the bus into the city and after a tour of the other 7 terminals of JFK airport saw the Queen, neither of us ever seen her in the UK watched her motorcade fly by on the way to JFK on the freeway after her visit to the city. After a mad bus ride with a stop at Grand Central Staion to change with the mad bus boss, we were dropped at the Port Authority and had to walk the last few blocks to the hotel in unbeilievable heat, with people telling us it had hit 102 earlier in the day. Arriving at the Hotel we were both ready to pretty much crash but with the hotel on 48th W right next to Times square and the theatre district, (it also has a fire station on the corner and they constantly seems to be going out sirens blazing) we decided to go for a little wander and WOW Times Square is amazing.. but the final straw in excitement and so we called it a very long day and hit the sack.
We have very much continued our lazy theme today and after a lay in had a wander up to Central Park, again amazing place within such a mad city... lots of people relaxing and trying to stay out of the city heat. We then found 5th avenue, Apple store WiFi allowed us to do some updates, had a look only in Tiffany & Co :-) then headed for lunch to watch the Spanish beat the Germans in the semi final in a little irish pub off Times Square, we shared a table with a Dutch supporter who really wanted Germay to be in the final with them and after seeing Spain i know why!! Chilled the rest of the day and booked our first Hostel which we will be moving into tomorrow. Looking to hanghere till the end of the weekend before we start our journey onwards.
