Dan and Claire go worldwide
We decided to go to Cape Tribulation deep in the rainforest of Australia, so we could experience something else in OZ other than beaches!! The Daintree rainforest is apparently the oldest rainforest in the world, although not the biggest.
Our tour started off from Cairns and onto the well known beach resort of Port Douglas, known for its rich, affluent, estates and its four mile long beach. The weather wasnt that great however, so it didnt look as impressive as we had imagined! Next stop on our way up north was Mossman Gorge, an area in the rainforest which has a beautiful natural swimming hole in the middle of the rainforest. It is one of very few places where you can swim in the waters up north, which are infested with salt water crocs...aahhh! Mossman Gorge is populated by aborigionals, so we learnt about there culture and some of the strange rock formations that surrounded the rainforest and there superstitious nature!
Next stop was Cape Tribulation, and to start us off we went for a river cruise spotting crocs...and boy did we see some!! We saw one that was almost 6 metres long resting on the bank, it was real spooky, so we didnt go too close! They lie dead still so they think you cant see them, and its quite eerie, especially considering they have the hardest pressure bite out of all the animals in the world, even a great white shark! On our hour tour we saw numerous other crocs, resting on the banks and spying at our boat from the water, and little baby ones estimated at being only months old, they were really cute but i still wouldnt stroke them :)
After our boat tour, we went for numerous guided walks through the rainforest, before heading to our rainforest lodge for the evening. The next day was spent on bicycles exploring the surrounding beaches, before heading back to Cairns in the afternoon. xxx
AND THATS AUSTRALIA FOLKS!!! XXX
