Mandaly is a rather nice change to Yangon. We are gald to reach a pace that has its own special character!!! Although the overnight bus journey to get here was a smooth ride, we could not sleep in the small space we had.
A walk to the highest point in Manadaly (Mandalay hill) was a long steep one, although we were rewarded by spectactular views and a beauitiful sunset. We treated oursevles to homemade icecream and chapati's for dinner each night. A long bike ride to U-Beins bridge was a site to be seen. We rode with heavy traffic down the oldest, most rugged road in mandalay on century old bikes. Im suprised there were no flat tyres or chains coming off. Danny look especially cute with his pretty basket on the front. The bridge was long with olde men and women begging every 5 metres. NoTeeth, terrible arthritis and limbs missing but the old characters still chuckled at us and smiled with there vampire grins.
We are soon to head to Bagon on a slow boat!! We are looking forward to the change in transportation. Buses really are not our favorite rides at the moment.
