We could feel the heat when we left the apartment in the morning. We wandered down the hilly streets & found a local place for some breakfast crepes. Then it was in a taxi who dropped us at the Ancient Agora to wander amongst the ruins. It was 32 degs by this time so it was pretty warm to be out & about, but we used the shade from the trees to good effect. When we arrived at one of the temples, the name escapes me, we noticed a tortoise munching on the grass. This was a bit of a shock, although as we wandered around we came across quite a few of them. We spent a few hours in this area but decided we needed to get out of the days heat. It was then a wander along the path which took us to the big Acropolis Museum where we spent the next few hours learning about all the history & discoveries over time. Finally the heat had died down so we returned to the streets & took a little road train for a tour of the city centre happy to be off our feet. We returned to the square at Monastriaki for dinner before returning home to pack. The last 5 weeks have been amazing to share the adventures with Jacs parents. The Greek Islands have been the highlight of the trip. Tomorrow we head our separate ways, Tony & Paula back to Oz, & Jac & I on a train to Thessaloniki to start our travels through Eastern Europe. From now on we visit places we have never been before. We can't wait to experience the new cultures & lifestyles of the East.
