hey kids. thought id update my blog as i havent done it in a while, its a very slow computer today. right so after leaving mumbai i took the bus up to aurangabad, but i think i missed the bus i was meant to catch and ended up on a local bus and a few of the poorer people in india got on when there were no seats available and ended up sitting in the aisles, one of which sat right by me and had a little baby, about an hour after getting on the bus there was a very horrible smell coming from her general direction, wasnt very pleasent, she had obviously forgotten to bring any spare nappes for her baby, and i had to put up with this smell forquite some time.
anyway arrived in aurangabad in the morning greated with a muslim fellow who took me to a hotel and i got a room for 350 rupees which was incredible, had a double bed, en suite bathroom, was just massive and amazing. then went to see the ellora caves which were stunning. never seen anythgingquite like it, and in my opinion are better than the ajunta caves for anone whos interested lol. i also saw the poor mans taj mahal which was nice and relaxing and just sat in the gardens talking to a few locals for a while - very relaxing, also saw a few other temples. and the ajunta caves the next day,. on the way to the bus station, i had to walk from my hotel at around 6 in the morning, so was still very dark, and the people behind the desk in reception gave me directions, left and left,, but lead me to completely the wrong place, so i had to ask a load of people where it was, as i was walking down the road the electricity cut out and it suddenly became pitch black, all i could see was the odd shadow of a dogdarting across the road. anyway the directions i got from others lead me to a slum area, at which point there was an air raid siren going off, must have been calling the muslims to pray or something, and there were a few beggars walking around and i was strolling through there village looking like a really rich westerner, not really the most fantastic idea. anyway it all turned out ok and i saw some fantastic caves.
i then had to take a bus to amadabad and then another to get here at udaipor, took about 20 hours, but definately worth it. met some boys from bangalore who were a great laugh and got me an invite to their friends wedding which was a good laugh. its so strange, in india the guys love to dance much more than the girls! the girls just stand around and look at the blokes strut their stuff. the indian wedding was quite strange, very different to our traditional weddings, didnt look much fun for the bride and groom. the groom just sat on a big white horse through the streets whilst there was a bit of a fiesta going on around and fireworks going off with lots of loud bhangra beets blaring in the background and everyone dancing. then when they actually got to the garden where the main stuff happens, they just stood on the stage having their photo taken with loads of different groups of people, whilst others again carried on with the party. eventually all the photos finished and they were able to eat some food and relax for a bit, before getting married at 11 30 because thats some religeous time when everyone gets married.
anyway, whilst ive been in udaipor ive met some of the australians i met in mumbai which was a bit strange. done a bit of shopping here and there, went to rankpur which is the most amazing jain temple, is actually incredible. went around a few other temples closer to the city and stumbled upon a vishnu temple where loads of people were singing to him as a form of prayer, great experience. saw the main city palace, quite a nice building, wouldnt mind having it as a house. also went up to the monsoon palace on top of some mountain which had some stunning views of the city and surroundings, anyone coming to udaipor i cant reccomend it strongly enough. yesterday i managed to get horribly sick from food poisoning or something, came out of both ends, and couldnt keep anything down, not even water. so had to last a whole day without having anything to drink, really weird feeling. its like you're drunk but have a massive headache and very dizzy. but on the mend now managed to keep down some rice for breakfast and had some antibiotics so think its all gonna be fine by tomorrow after the bus to pushka, anyway once again ran out of time. hopefully wont be too long till my next entry.
