Thanks for the really nice send off to all of you who sent text messages and mums and dads who came to the airport with us, we both really enjoyed the day and night.
Well singapore is absolutely gorgeous, the skyline is truly amazing as you can see from the pics. The flight with BA Quantas was really nice and comfortable and it was free drinks all the way here! Although we did manage to get some sleep on the way over, Shell was desperate for the toilet and the chap on the isle seat literally slept for all of the journey!!
Having survived deep vein thrombosis, we checked into our hotel which was really luxurious and was on the 14th floor so we had a really nice view of the city and Dan even managed to not get too worked up over the height thing!
Went out on our first night here to try to get to Chinatown for a bite to eat, we did however manage to get extremely lost in a country where english is minimal! We ate on the street at a little typical singapore eatery where all the guy could say was "chicken rice?" Shell was happy with that obviously so we ate there, a slap up meal for 2.50!
We had a lovely breakfast at the hotel where they even served baked beans!! Then we caught the bus to Singapore zoo, which has to be the most amazing zoo I have ever seen. There were no caged animals apart from the big cats - or that could have been dangerous and the scenery was truly gorgeous.
We booked a city tour for the afternoon and went around all the major sights in Singapore, the skyline is breathtaking and we visited an ancient chinese temple where they were busy with a religious ceremony was good to see.
On the night we ventured out to the world famous orchard road, the shops were amazing Gucci, prada, versace, all obviously well out of our price range! Had a more upmarket meal this time at a mexican restauarant but still only managed to spend 10 quid with drinks thrown in!
We were picked up early that morning to go to the airport and we are now on our way out to sunny Australia!! Catch up with you soon
