Its only just begun! No delays with the flight, set off promptly from Manchester at 10.50 and landed in Cologne where we got a connecting flight to Berlin, the first stop of our adventure. Eddie bursting with confidence thanks to his A* in GCSE German approached a right character of a taxi driver outside the airport terminal who estimated a price of 33 Euros to take us to our floating abode. We checked into the Easten Comfort Hostel boat on the eastern side of the river Spree funnily enough. It's a stones throw away from the Berlin wall! It's clean and comfortable with a language party in the bar lounge on a Wednesday night! Might give that a bash tomorrow night! I took the top bunk, so sorry if I give you an eye full boys when I get down in the morning! First was early evening by the time we spoke to the ever so lovely and helpful receptionist and shortly after we got settled in the cabin we set off for our first glimpse of Berlin.
First stop a curry at Sadhu restaurant followed by a half litre of Warsteiner beer to wash it down. See we've started this adventure in a very cultural way! Tired after a day of travelling we headed back to our cabin where we got the city map out and decided to plan the day ahead. Ben and I misheard Eddie who suggested that hitlers bunker is where he took his pill to kill himself! We thought he made reference to a pillow? First impression of Berlin is that it's particularly chilled out although somewhat lacks a specific identity. It's such a friendly busy place with pretty cool bars but the communist past is very evident. Low key night tonight as want to have breakfast on the boat early and have a fun day of sight seeing! Eddie wants us to hire bikes, although pushbikes this time. We don't want a repeat performance of motorbikes in Gran Canaria! Off to sleep on this boat now which is bouncing all over the place, it's been a long day of traveling with so much to see tomorrow.
