Surprisingly we woke up relatively early considering we were in the biggest club in Europe Karlovylazne until the early hours of the morning. The highlight was when I amused several people on the dance-floor showcasing my personal choreography to YMCA... Don't ask!
Bright eyed and bushy tailed, we endeavoured to engross ourselves in the delights of Prague culture. First stop though was to have breakfast. A ham and cheese toastie for 60 Karuna, lovely! We crossed the Vltava river using the famous Charles bridge. It was busy, packed full of tourists from all over the world. Indulging in the beautiful architecture we climbed the hill and headed towards the Prazsky Hrad, aka Prague castle.
We stopped at the guarded gates and tried to make the guards laugh by striking ridiculous poses next to them. With no avail we entered the grounds and relished the sight of the old royal palace and walked on into the spectacular St Vitus cathedral. Prague although not that sunny was very warm so sensibly we stopped off in frequent intervals for refreshments in local bars.
One particular bar had a roof terrace with stunning panoramic views of Prague beneath us. We decided to visit the John Lennon wall where we met two lovely Canadians through Eddie volunteering to take pictures of them. They explained that in the Communist past people weren't allowed to express their inner feelings. The wall started as a shrine to John Lennon and now it's evolved into a wall of expression. It's considered to be the Berlin wall of Prague. All we are saying, is give peace a chance!
We continued our stroll, actually in search of the very cool mode of transport called the Segway, the very green environmentally friendly fast way to commute around the city when something amusing attracted our attention. A French registered car was selfishly blocking a road was about to be lifted onto a lowloader and driven away. Supervised by the police, tourists were pointing and laughing and taking photographic evidence. God only knows how that person's going to drive home to France tonight!
Back now in our room and Eddie and Ben are having a little snooze (not in the same bed!) to prepare for a substantial meal in a restaurant in the Old Town Square following by a revisit to Karlovylazne...
