DAY FOUR
"Time to wake up mommy" 515am....
We were down on the beach by 630! The nice and cool breeze was break from the sun and was good for mommys fat fingers and feet.
We tried to play some beach ball but the wind took it away a few times. So we settled on dinosaur as car sand fun. Maddox was intent on bug hunting, he's been quite the wimp with bugs this trip so we will have to do some bug eduction when we get home.
NiCa and Maddox got to see a monk seal up close on the beach. Not "beached" he kept playing in and out the water and wiggling it's way onto the beach. Papa went down and checked it out too and found out his name is Ben. There are only 1000 in the world, 80 in Hawaii and 30 in the Oahu area. Rest of them are around the French shores and midway. Very rare as they are the most endangered species of seals in the world. Lauri got some pics and will send them when we get home.
We decided it was a great day to go on an adventure!
Papa took us for a drive to all of their favourite places!
First stop:
DOLE PINEAPPLE FACTORY, where we had the most delicious juicy burgers and of course pineapple ice cream! They even had a pineapple hot dog on the menu for Brenda!
Maddox did some wild chicken chasing and we checked out the cool growing garden of the pineapples.
After some lovely shopping at the Dole market Maddox chose a special souvenir for daddy and we headed to our second stop.
GREEN WORLD COFFEE FARM
The most decadent and delicious coffee. Brought some home as a special treat. Tried an iced Thai (latte sweetened with condensed milk) DELISH!
Lauri shared her most favourite drive where we saw the brightest most gorgeous flowers ever, mysterious hanging fruit "dripping" from the trees, lush tropical mountainside views as well as gorgeous beach and ocean.
A super cool and fun kids YMCA camp with climbing walls and ropes as well as the polo ranch where prince William plays when he holidays in Oahu.
Third stop is "LAURI'S" BEACH
It is across from Dilligham Airfield where Lauri went on a glider plane last year. Her beach she loves so much as her and Brad can snorkel and see tons of fish life and turtles and whales! And the beach is usually totally empty of people! We didn't see any turtles today, but hopefully tomorrow.
Our fourth and final stop brought us to the cutest little town of HALEIWA. Many sweet little shops and boutiques including the Red Dirt Shirt Company (shirts dyed with red dirt) and the most adorable little baby shop Mini Manini where bambino/a got some souvenirs for him/herself.
On our way back to the condo we took a drive to check out more cool beach spots and gorgeous landscapes. Also quite quiet with people.
It was a long but super awesome day for everyone. Maddox had a long and relaxing bath complete with watermelon service in the tub. Mama's ready to put her feet up and rest up for another day of fun in the sun!
Good night everyone.
