Soo I am currently cruising though the mountainous/desert landscape of Northern Peru on an overnight bus to Lima. The sun is setting over the mountains which combined with the dusty desert air creates a warm glow like the mountains have been dusted with icing sugar (but not white). The bus is dirty with no air con and I'm bouncing out my seat every other turn... It's gonna be a bumpy ride. Hopefully I won't have a repeat episode of when we came up to Mancora... I was dozing blissfully when I had a nightmare and woke up sitting bolt upright and let loose a full blown, terror filled scream. It woke the whole bus up and the poor guy next to me looked completely bewildered an because he didn't speak English, so didn't understand it was just a nightmare, he also looked very concerned and scared and he pulled the partition down between us. Awkward. Also Becks lunged over to get in her seat ad get trousers split. Big lolz.
Mancora is ace. A little surf town (yes plenty more absolutely beautiful surfers for me to gawp at) the air is hot an dry and the beach, which is dotted with palm tress, has a heat haze over it. The hostel was a nonstop YOLO partayy with a swimming pool, bar, music and s*** loads of booze. Lou was obvs in her element. Such lads on tour. Well until I nearly faint the next day from dehydration- Dyke Down. I was fine though, I'm solid.
The second day there we decided to go on a hunt to find this place where you can swim with turtles. So we went off in search of an idyllic beach with white sands and Mr turtles gracefully gliding past us so we would become at one with them then ride on their backs and form deep connections. But no. We ended up at a tiny port filled with more Peruvian people laughing at how pale we where and crates stacked high of smelly fish. Right. We thought screw it we may aswell pay to go in as it might be a boat rude away or something. But no. At the end of a pier covered in fish guts was a pontoon an around the pontoon where about 10 huge turtles. Sounds cool, and it was, but the water was gross and had a sheen of fish guts in the top. I was very brave and climbed into the water with these little dudes but a soon as I got in the water I turned classically very un-cool. I was scared if the little guys, they just looked like huge shadows under the water which would emerge from nowhere and u know sharks like turtles so I didn't want a shark to appear and eat me. I didn't like it one bit. I kept my feet up, squealed lots and got strangled by my life jacket then climbed out ASAP looking like a drowned rat.
So we spent the rest of our time chillin on the beach, trying to soak up some rays. Whilst also falling in love with any surfer who did some sick tricks cutting through dem waves. In my mind I was sitting their looking like a blonde Latino goddess with the wind whisking though my hair. When in reality I looked my usual ginger, pasty (with bunt patches even through factor 50 sun cream) lanky self. But it was ok, I wasn't the only one who burnt, Lou burnt her TATTAYS also.
We are now off to another place I can't remember the name of and have no idea how to spell. It's meant to be lush doe. I will let you all know.
