Claire's adventures
have been in new zealand now for almost 2 weeks it has gone so fast. still having ups and downs but the ups are definately outweighing the downs. we arrived in aukland on monday 6th and went to check into a hostel. we were in a 6 bed and had to share with 2 men. the first was a middle aged who snore so loudly and the other slightly younger than us and he seemed a bit scared of having to share with \"chicks\" that he never made it to bed!! had very limited time in aukland so on the tues we went on a harbour cruise which was an ideal way of getting to see the city and then we did the sky town also a great way to see it and from a different perspective. auckland is so huge and the views were pretty incredible. we then went to collect our camper van which was very exciting. when we got there there was this van waiting for us with big butch rugby players painted on it so we were not happy with the 3 of us girls driving in that so they swapped for coyte and roadrunner on one side and daffy duck and samity sam on the other it is well cool and am loving the van!! the blokes that were dealing with us looked a bit scared at the thought that we were going to be driving it but to be fair so was i. headed down to waitomo caves where we did black water rafting - sounds scary but really isn\'t . just go down to these caves in a rubber ring and u float along looking at glow worms and then jumping backwards down a waterfall which was a bit scary and then sliding down this slide. it was a lot of fun but different from what i expected. next we headed down to Roturara which is a thermal city and there is steam coming out everywhere. just went to see the thermal pools, boiling mud and soaked up a bit of maori culture. went to lake Taupo for a night didn\'t really get chance to do anything here cause it was raining (exactly like an english summer) but the views were amazing. then down to welligton where we met up with annas parents and stayed in a warm house - beautiful. anna had to go to a wedding on the sat so me and ceri thought we would check out the night life in welligton. we planned all the pubs we were going to and everything. we brought a few bottles of wine before we went out to keep it cheap and then headed into town pretty drunk. we only managed to order 1 drink chat to a few locals before ceri thought she was going to be sick so we had to go home which i don\'t really remember. so so much for the big night. but we were definately paying for it on sun - it was a total right off!
