So this place is about 130k west of Alice Springs and has a resort at an old homestead, a road (to get in an out) and that's about it for infrastructure.
The landscape around it, primarily the West MacDonnell ranges, though is just amazing. We enjoyed the range to the East of Alice Springs but I think this one is even better.
Not sure why we enjoy it so much - maybe because it is so different to what we have seen before.
The other reason we have had such a good time and stayed on abit longer is we have been able to spend some time with the staff here at the resort - a motley crew of backpackers, travellers from different parts of the globe who are working here for the tourist season who seem to have Dad and I under their wing - A really friendly group of people. And a nice change from the plague of grey nomads we have been travelling 'with' the past few months.
There are so many things to see, on and off map, that 3 days was never going to be enough. It's difficult to explain what is special about the scenery. I mean it is dry - most creek beds are dry although some still have water, but still lots of trees with think green canopies, loads of birdlife, rock wallabies, dingoes, lots of rocks, cliffs, outcrops, etc. The photos won't do any of the above justice so you will just need to do yourself a favour and come visit yourself.
Also for anyone looking at the photos I apologise in advance for the quantity in particular where evidently I went abit crazy with trees and dingoes.
Also I have had some recent comments regarding the heavy weighting to scenery shots and too few of Dad and I. I will admit to preferring 'landscapes' but have added a few of the 2 of us in this batch.
Btw Dean the extra few days has thrown my schedule out a tad so will be your way a few days later than planned! Will keep you posted.
