Neil's journey
Wasn't expecting the floating market to be that great but I was wrong, it was fantastic. Each boat sells something different and you can tell what they sell because they attached the particular items to a huge mast. Its mainly fruit and veg (beats pete's stall on eastenders) but so many weird and wonderful things to see/try - had some strawberries (nice but white and not even strawberry shaped) starfruit, and some red fruit, white on the inside with blackpips...I could go on...
This other part of the market had live frogs, snakes (actually held one although it was only a grass-snake), huge snails and eels. Basically you buy it, they bash it on the head and give it to you - no room in my bag for such things mind you.
Snake figures highly on most menus - they call it the serpent menu which I think sounds better. Two danish people I spoke to today had tried it last night, said it tasted like chicken which you wouldn't expect. The danish woman was up all night being sick but her husband wasn't - maybe unfair to blame it on the snake but I don't fancy it. Its strange though how we get funny about eating certain animals - eating dog for example ("oh how could they", "its disgusting") when like dressing them up in human clothes, cooking them meals (know what I mean Jason) giving them a blanket and treating them better then your kids is normal?
Arrived in Saigon tonight (its okay to call it that still apparently) - another crazy city and its got even more humid. Vietnam really cool so far though....
