We arrived in Aonang in Krabi after 3 planes journeys and 2 stop overs, all very tired and in need of showers!! Awaiting check in we headed down to the pool side and went swimming. The pool was situated next to a towering lime stone cliff and palm trees, all very idyllic, until the rain started! It poured down for hours and hours which was actually great because we checked in to our room and all passed out and slept off our jet lag! The next few days were spent sun bathing by the pool, being petrified of jeffery (a lizard) and venturing out at night for food. We all agreed that our best meals were from a restaurant called the Thailandia and a street restaurant called Jasmines. Plenty of pad Thai, curries and sea food was consumed over the 10days!
Krabi is surrounded by the beautiful Phi Phi islands so we booked on to a boat trip to spend the day visiting some of the islands and snorkelling. The morning of our trip was slightly over cast and cloudy, remaining hopeful for a sunny day we got on the boat and set off.... and the rain joined us. The sea was very choppy and the boat was bouncing with the waves splashing over us, soaking us to the bone. Myself and Breeda sat with our eyes closed planning our escape route in case we needed to be sick and Charlottes eyes were glued to the horizon as she prayed to god that the increasingly pale boy across from her didn't spew all over her. The first stop was to bamboo island, we spend most of the time on the island consuming anti-sickness tablets. Bamboo island is uninhabited and has beautiful white sand and usually crystal clear waters surrounding it, but due to the wind and rain it was looking a bit murky! Back on the boat we stopped off for some snorkelling as the sea had settled and the rain had stopped. As we got in the water the boat staff threw in some bread and up came hundreds of fish, great opportunity to see all the different types of fish but a horrible feeling on your skin! We stopped off a further 2 times for more snorkelling, Breeda stayed on the boat as she was still suffering from sea sickness. This time we saw some nemos, sea ercins and really amazing colourful fish. One of the stops was supposed to be the Maya bay but unfortunately it was still too windy to head out further to the island which was disappointing but despite the weather we enjoyed our day.
Another trip we did was elephant trekking, Charlotte and Breeda's elephant was named BoBo and I can't remember mine! We trekked through trees before heading down in the water for the elephants to cool off and afterwards fed them some bananas. Aonang beach was only a 5 minute walk from our hotel and we spent a couple of days here, the sea was very choppy and entering the sea was like a intensive work out of jumping the waves!
Over all the three of us loved our time in Krabi and headed back Krabi airport for our flight to Bangkok before we would part and Breeda would head back to London and myself and Charlotte to Beijing. It felt so strange as we felt like we should be going back home too and it was sad saying bye to Breeda, but Charlotte and I have more adventures to come!
