Arrived at the hotel about 11.30am. Beautiful hotel in magnificant surroundings. Sorted ourselves and went walking again. Ollantambo is a beautiful old town with mainly cobbled streets (which played havoc with my ankle). A lot of the locals, particularly the old women still dress in traditional dress.
There is an old fort that was used y the Incas to defend themselves against the Spanish Conquistadors. The site is apparently older than Machu Picchu. It is a massive teraced structure, built into the side of a mountain. We madeit about a quarter of the way up - pretty foot and leg sore from yesterday, and wanted to save ourselves for tomorrow - Machu Picchu!!
At our hotel there is a stable with 3 Llamas - we went to pet an feed them. The following morning they were our grazing on the lawn.
