Singapore
We arrived in Singapore but not where we wanted to be, so we talked to a taxi driver who knew some cheap guesthouse. We stayed the first night at Footprints hostel that looked nice on the outside, but when we got into our room, it was a small, hot and smelly room full of bunk beds. So we dumped our heavy bags, got some lunch and sorted accomdation for the next day at the Backpackers Inn. We returned to Footprints and next to it was an American diner/bar that was very rock'n'roll - a lot of Singaporeans were outside, men were head to toe in leathers, with Harley Davison bikes at the front and the women in 50's style. We were smoking outside and then a man who was on a microphone was shouting and asking us to give him a "hell YEAH!!" and invited us to look inside. They were having a flea market and an auction. After a few nervous giggles and 'WTF' looks at each other, we plucked up the courage to walk through the people and into the diner. There were a few clothes on sale and Alysha picked up a cute vintage dress for a fiver in our money and we had a browse around.
Later that night we fancied a curry and as we were on India street - it should have been easy to find but we looked around for ages.....most of the places were vergatarian, or had just fish or had meat on the bone (we are fussy!) So we walked all around the block to come back to a cafe next to our Backpackers Inn!!!!!! They served lovely food and small world as the owner was from Barkingside, near where Mischa lived!!
Since we only had a couple of days in Singapore before flying out to Australia, we couldn't do much exploring here but yes, we did went shopping!! We were delighted to see they had River Island, Topshop, Zara, even New Look here!! On the day we left to go to the airport to fly out to Australia, Gemma went to the hospital with Coco as Gemma wasn't feeling well the past few days, kept feeling dizzy and sometimes shaking. Meanwhile , Alysha and Mischa went to have pedicures, their eyebrow threaded and Alysha's....*ahem* waxed. We got to the airport and wow, the downpour was unbelievable! We were worried that our flight would be delayed but no...*phew!* THEN at the check-in, we had a little problem with Mischa's visa (what is it with us and visas?!?) but luckily she just entered the wrong date of birth, one phone call and the problem was solved! Pheeeew!!!!!
We had mixed feelings about leaving Singapore, the end of our Asia experience but on the other hand, we were excited to get to Melbourne, Australia!!!!!
