We left our posh hotel in Siam Square this morning and had half an hour of hassle getting a taxi to Th Khao San which is a popular tourist area. We couldn't work out why it was such a problem and why they all said no can do. So when we finally got one to take us directly there and not to train station or TAT office(commision based tourist agency)we arrived to find a water fight on a gigantic scale. the roads were blocked off and everyone, Thai and tourist was loaded with a water pistol! So it was always gonna be a bit of a nightmare keeping our backpacks dry and finding a room height of festival season. But to cut a long story short, trenching through the puddles trouseres rolled up and escorted by thai's with brolloes, we found ourselves a modest room, our first 'hostal' room! 6pounds each a night! not bad! So as you will see from the pictures it was quite an eventful day. We were prime targets looking like fresh tourists! Crowds of lady boys about quite funny! Within ten minute of being on the street we were drenched by pistols, buckets of freezing cold water thrown over our heads. The thai's also had pots of what we can only describe as paste, which they smeared all over you, on your face, in your hair! we looked a right state! One wet blanket who couldn't handle the water fight tryed to pick up a chair and hurl it at her enemy who continued to squirt her with water, v funny! Going to wrap up Bangkok in the next few days so you will here the rest of the story as follows.
