Well weve eventually got round to writing our first blog entry, sorry its taken so long but were having way to much fun to be sat at the computer.
Were do we start, lets tell you about Bangkok, its absolutley manic, hard to comprehend how busy one place can actually be, buses, cars, tuk tuks and motorbikes everywhere. We love the tuk-tuks.
spent our first night on Khao San road, Songkran ( Thai new year) had just started so it was a case of find the first place that had a room free as we were getting soaked, for those who dont know the Thai people like to celebrate their new year by dumping water all over each other, its so much fun, the least amount of clothes the better!
The floating market was our next port of call, what a great way to do your daily shop! we sampled some of the local food, Sean wasnt too keen on the warm coconut milk! think he would have prefered a beer! ha ha, got stuck in lots of traffic jams on the water, which was so funny. I managed to keep my sunglasses for about 1 hour, then dropped them over the side of the boat! gutted. ( only cheap from primark) After the floating market we went to the snake farm but you had to pay an entrance fee, only we had spent up on the floating market not realising, so we spent the next hour outside in the blistering heat! we wont make that mistake again!!
We went to the Grand Palace on Wednesday, great if you like your Temples, once again it was far too hot to take everything in, we spent most of the time looking for water! but a very nice day. After our day out we deffinately needed a beer so it was time to hit the bars in Bangkok, Sean knew a few places from last time he was here, not surprisingly Go-Go bars included! Met up with Lushy and got drunk! We had the Tuk-Tuk driver doing wheelies, i really dont think our insurrance covers us for that! oh well, great fun!
After a few more days of sightseeing and markets, (mums you would love the markets so much better than the flea market down acci, ha ha) we booked our ticket to Chaing Mai, which is where we are now. We were told that the train journey would be 13 hours, it was infact 16 hours!!!!! we did have beds though so this wasnt as bad as it sounds, think them planes are gonna come in handy at some point though! The scenary was beautiful along the way.
Now in Chaing Mai, its very different to Bangkok, not as fast. Spent my birthday getting very drunk, had a great night, only we were back in bed for 8, burnt out rather quickly after the long journey here. Cant wait for tomorow, we are going Elephant trekking and bamboo rafting, which is a must for everyone who comes to Thailand! Its not everyday you can ride a smelly Elephant! Bear Grylls watch this space!!!!
Well, must go, Sean needs a beer, and i need a POO!!! Nothing changes eh??
Will be back soon
