So after jumping from KÇI to Chicago, Chicago to Newark, and Newark to Lisbon, we finally made it into Portugal at 6 in the morning. It was a beautiful sunrise over the local hills, creating a sunny 70 degree day. We hopped a bus through the sprawling city to the old town square on the coast, where we promptly got lost looking for our hostel. After a fun 20 minutes of asking around, we found it in a renovated apartment building, and after brushing and washing up, we quickly fell asleep for a 5 hour power nap (having only had quick naps on our flights). I dreamed back on our connection in Newark, where we literally had to read airport signs on the run as we sprinted to re-check in and transfer to our next flight. Due to an hour delay in Chicago, we were behind and to our relief ended up being some of the last to board as we finished putting on our belts and putting our shoes back on from the security checkpoint. It was just a 5 hour flight, and we were served meals and watched movies that we got to pick from our headreast units. We were exhausted upon arriving at our hostel Smile, but fortunately the hostel is very nice and fun, and we´ve already met 2 really nice people staying here from NY and Arizona. The unfortunate part is that I had somehow misjudged our arrival date so that our first reservation was for last night instead . . . goddammit. Oh well, luckily it was one of the cheaper hostels and that just means that after we see Lisbon tomorrow, we will be catching our train out to Madrid a day earlier than expected. We will be sleeping on the train tomorrow, so we will probably walk around town tonight, find some dinner, and and then soak up sleeping in a bed as much as we can tonight. That´s the plan, so we are off and will update later!
