Unlike many students who take a term or semester to study abroad, I will be interning abroad; the difference is that I will be working under an organization instead of taking classes at another university. The Cheetah Conservation Fund was founded in 1990 by Dr. Laurie Marker because of a steep decline in the cheetah population by half (an approximate loss of 7,000 cheetahs). Their loss would have negatively influenced species diversity, ecosystem services, and more; and breeding them in captivity was not an immediate solution.
Not only am I excited about the opportunity to work with this organization, but I am excited about traveling out of the country for the first time, even though it requires a daily malaria pill, many vaccinations, and numerous readings to understand the Namibian culture.
If you have any questions about the pre-departure steps and how I was able to aquire this opportunity, feel free to message me on this blog!
