more travels, more people.
spent yesterday on copacobana beach, saw all-sorts; endless street sellers of drinks, jewelery, food, sarongs, bikinis and mini bbq´s grilling haloumi cheese, gorgeous and cheap!
Met Andre Free or as he said the ´hair´, talked at us for about an hour about god knows what, only understood a few words, he wrote in the sand and gestured and we nodded politely! He came from one of the local favelas told us about gang life and corrupt police, guess we wont be seeking help from them!
walked back about 2km to the hostel to find lots of games going on, beach american football included, very strange, very big lads wouldnt have played along!
Today(sunday) we got a bus to ipanema beach, a hot spot for the rich and beautiful, we just fit in! the bus ride was an experince, scared for our lives, they weave in and out of traffic as if it they were mo-peds, and on the way back a coconut fell on the roof, scared us silly! Any way, we stepped off the bus to be surprised with a beautiful beach and a hippy market, huge, selling everything under the sun, beautiful things, got a few bracelets, managed to resist large objects!wish i could have sent a plane load home!
We took our first proper dip in the sea, got trashed by some huge waves, huge!!! but was lovely and refreshing! soaked up some sun, and am now writing my blog, will be off to a favela funk party later as a group from hostel, got a good reputation so will let you know how it goes, our plan for 2mo is to get up Cristo Redentor, see the city from heights!
over and out, all in all having a great time!
