Sat pm Sitting in a very peaceful cafe in the old quarter of Louang Prabang enjoying some spring rolls and a lemon frappe. We had a magical 7 hr boat journey along the Ou River through limestone mountains covered in a haze. Locals were busily growing veg in the rich soil on its banks and others were fishing. Water buffalo wandered about watched by their boy and on one island in the middle were a herd of black goats. Other people were bagging sand and pebbles, presumably to sell to the building trade. Eventually we joined the R. Mekong and sailed along until reaching here. It is a World Heritage site, very relaxing and beautiful, its French heritage is everywhere, the fowers and ancient buildings are stunning. We have visited some interesting wats, but I am now templed out, although there is one I should climb to the top of for sunset. The night market is like a Christmas one, very smart and hassle free, but I reckon there a only six different things being sold in it, so how all the vendors make a living I do not know. I still haven't got my head around the kip, 12000 to the £! Not many tourists about but quite a few backpackers as it is a must on their list of places. We don't leave here till Mon. but have new places to visit tomorrow and then some free time. It is about 85 degrees, but the no humidity makes it pleasant, however, the days are slow to start and the temp goes laround sunset, bit last night I coped with just a pashima. Cannot up load photos as their internet not strong enough, but it is free! Take care love to all, J
