Greetings from Bikaner! We hope you are all enjoying the snow!! Right, so onto Bikaner, another long car ride but it's great as we get to see loads along the way, as many stray cows as you could ever imagine! Seriously...they're everywhere.
Bikaner has a pretty impressive fort that entertained us for a couple of hours, we wandered around inside and were very snap happy with all the beautiful decoration (photos to follow I promise as soon as we find a decent internet connection...) We also visited a Jain temple and got shown around by the Priest which was jolly good of him!
In the afternoon we had a muchos fun time at the National Camel Research Centre...they smell sooo bad but are actually pretty interesting, sort of. Nick enjoyed a camel milk ice cream and I am currently wrapped up warm in a lovely camel hair pashmina, I know it sounds a bit gross but it's not!!
Now i realise that last statement may have flagged up as a bit odd - wrapped up warm?! Well actually, yes, fleece and scarf! We are in the desert and after the sun sets it is pretty cold, but not as cold as you lot are having it, ha ha!!
Going on a camel safari tomorrow from Jaisalmer and staying in the desert for the night, will report back soon! Love to all, keep the messages coming it is nice to read them! (And Carrie - 200 rupees is just under 3 quid) xxx
Just a final note from Nixon here...I just thought everyone would like to know, that "cutting edge" Camel carts are now being fitted with a dynamo and battery to charge...a stereo! Brilliant!
Also...from today, should I ever be stranded in the desert with a car with a shattered windscreen - I'll know what to do!! A stray stone flicked up off the road and our able driver dealt with it deftly and professionally (and without Autoglass or RAC or anything like that!) Although we did have to drive 250km with no windscreen! Drafty!
Anywho, love to all and seriously hundreds of photos to see when we can upload them.
Byeee! Nick & Katie xxx
