After getting through a whole bottle of Pimms and some other cocktails, getting up early wasn't really part of the plan, it's just about 10 and we're finally heading out, just when the temp is at its peak,.... No sense whatsoever, ..... Oh well,... Looking forward to the trip to Santosa which has been recommended by sooo many...... Updates later......
Had a quality trip out to Mount Faber and aboard the jewel cable car, fantastic views from both high up and low on the beaches. I mean, where else will you find white sandy beaches, palm trees, clear oceans and blue sky's framing a landscape and horizon full of large shipping tankers and mega industrial sized shipping ports.... Surreal doesn't begin to comprehend,... Then a turn to the left and you catch a glimpse of the Singapore CBD as its known or central business district .. Santosa Island was a great experience as we managed to have half hour on a Segway, very cool modes of transport, though the island itself had a very American flavour with fast food bars everywhere and some sort of transport to take you to every inch of the island,, To be honest, if I were to have shut my eyes and not known where I really was, I swear I would say I was in Florida or a similar American city,... Not a bad thing but not what I expected..... We did though on the other hand fully enjoy our 30 minute walk up and down Mount Faber which felt like we were actually in the deep tropics with increasing amounts of humidity, appropriate plant and wild life and superfluous views.....
Once we had explored the best bits of Santosa we decided that a dip in the apartment pool would be most suitable.... After the heat and humidity we had enjoyed a beautiful chilled relaxing half hour in the pool including a shower from the skies as it was that time of day. Though still added to an enjoyable experience .....
Can't believe this is our last day in singapore and then we're off to Vietnam!.... Crazeeeee.. And most definitely can't wait...... Well, tonight's our last night so we're going to go for a meal at one of Singapore's finer hawker centres, so similar to that of Little China where by there are loads of food stalls to choose from all making fresh to order foods..,,,
Live long and prosper... ;-) .... Simoon....
So, we ended up having another little nap, all this holidaying is tiring! While we were napping, Chloe's housemate Tanya came back. She didn't know we were there, and I've never heard a scream like it when Si emerged from our room in his towel! Even after that fright, she made us some vodka and mango juice drinks and gave us some mango to chomp on while we got to know her. She's so nice! When Chloe got back from work we headed out to Orchard Road, which has about 3,128,258 shopping centres on it..... Maybe I'm exaggerating a little but there are loads... We walked past Orchard Towers, known by the locals as " four floors of w****s" and the name says it all! Outside and inside there are prostitutes, and loads of sleazy men ready for action. Eurgh. We walked on to one of the shopping centres, and went to the food hall in the basement, where there was every kind of Asian food you could ask for. Unfortunately for us, it was just closing, but they let you stand in the queue for a while before they tell you! Instead, Chloe took us along Orchard Road, which is decorated beautifully for Christmas... We turned off a side street called Emerald Street, which was full of bars and so calm, a far fetch from the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road. We had a cocktail each, and Si had his apple-tini, delish! We grabbed some food, and headed back to Chloe's for an early night. Early start tomorrow, off to Hanoi! So excited to start our tour of Vietnam and Cambodia now, it's going to be amazing, and much cheaper than Singapore! Haha!
