I woke up on the plane. I looked up seeing my breakfast put right in front of my face. I open it a terrible tasting sandwich with chicken and cheese. I took the cheese out and ate it. There was also a muffin and a packet of oat covered fruit. "Yuuuuccckkk!!!!!"
After we got off the plane we got a taxi and headed straight towards our hotel. The hotel felt cozy. Though we have not seen the room yet I know it is going to be great. Now let's get to the juice. My family and I went to 4D and I had a scrumptious chocolate pastry! Yyuuuummm!!!! After we had breakfast we started our real adventure.
We were walking down the street when my dad questioned me "Is Madrid a old capital or a new capital?" I answered, "An old capital!" Knowing that it was 400-500 years old. "I'm sorry you are wrong Talia," I got confused, but he continued "Madrid is ONLY 400-500 years old, as for other cities such as Rome is 2000 years old." What do you know you learn something knew everyday.
Plaza Mayor it was where all the voting toke place. A time when Spain was free everyone was so elated, causing them all to love to vote and be free. The were so obsessed with voting that they even voting on the color for the buildings around the square. The color burgundy won!
Next we headed over to Puerto de Sol. There we walked around and learned about the oldest door in Madrid, which was just next door.
After that we headed to a monument in honor of the people that died during the bombing. Here's the story, there were terrorists that planned to bomb the king and his bride, but the couple stayed safe, while about 30 people died.
We headed over to a beautiful church. Here is some history, it is one if the very few churches that have been founded by a pope. A pope is the head of a catholic group. The church has 5000, pipe organs on the ceiling. It is most famous for the 12- century coffin that lays in the church. The reason is because a person, Isidro, died and 40 years later his body was found preserving in the coffin. Due to this miracle the people of Madrid decided that he was special and should be a saint. They also thought it was noteworthy and made a holiday for it. The 15th de Mayo was the holiday. The church was a Neo-gothic church. A Neo-gothic church is a church of all different styles.
We went to the Royal Palace. The Royal Palace in Madrid, Spain is the third most superb palace in the whole world! The throne room is the most magnificent room in the Royal Palace of Spain. The Thorne room has Red Velvet walls. The room has various statues, but what stands out most is the lions on the steps leading up to the throne. The 12 mirrors in the room stand for the 12 months of the year. The room contains of two chandeliers which are the most outstanding the whole palace. The two chandeliers are made of crystal. The room holds a wondrous ceiling moral and 4 paintings. Carlos III ate lunch in Carlos III Drawing Room. The antechamber was used for Carlos III diner. The antechamber has four paintings. The Gasparini Room was of the utmost importance of the living quarters. Gasparini designed the Gasparini Room in a European coco design. The room has a wonderful ceiling moral. In this room you will will see the oldest furniture in all of the palace. The Royal Palace has many more rooms, but we only toured the first floor with 24 rooms.
Next, we went to the armor museum. We saw lots of armor. "Can you hold that!" Exclaimed my mom pointing to a gigantic sphere. I shook my head in a no formation.
Our second to last stop was Egyptians ruins. The ruins were shipped over as a whole to the Spanish people as a thank you gift. The ruins were marveling me in every way. The stones were more than 3000 years old. Now that's old!!
Last but not least, we stopped at an art museum I loved the art. The painting that the world considers the greatest painting in the world. All the art work was fabulous. I would definitely recommend others to go to Madrid!
