We've pulled into the surfing town of Byron Bay, where surfers strap their board to their bike, and cycle home in their wetsuits. Where elderly hippies with beaded hair and bare feet go from coffee shop to coffee shop.
It's a completely beautiful area, where the sand goes on for miles and waves crash over for as far as the eye can see, and you can also spend ages going through all the kooky shops. The lifehouse in the pic (not mine!) is the strongest in the Southern Hemisphere, and we also walked down to the most easterly point on the mainland (pics to come).
It is also completely freezing! It started raining heavily when we got here last night, and it hasn't stopped since! I was nice and toasty in my sleeping bag, but I can't wait to get further north and get the opportunity to wear my shorts! Next, we're onto Moreton Island, with the largest coastal sand dunes in the world, where we hopefully get to try sandboarding!
