Hey everybody! Colleen and Cindi here with our very first update!

This is the first full day of our adventure. Yesterday we flew into San Jose, Costa Rica at around 11:30am and took a crazy taxi ride into the city. Those taxi drivers are insane!

Once we got to the city, we booked a bus up to Monteverde. We were so tired that we just hung around at a restaurant across the street until it was time to board and leave at 2:30!

Man, what a bus ride. We passed out immediately. When I (Cindi) woke up, I thought we must be at least halfway there...only one hour had actually passed! The bus ride ended up being around 4 or 5 hours, and for the last portion of the ride, the roads weren't paved. And we were riiight on the edge of the mountain. Pretty intense, but absolutely gorgeous views! We passed lots of cows, and people walking on the side of the road.

Monteverde itself kind of popped out of nowhere from the rainforest. It's a buzzing little town full of shops and restaurants. We found a hostel right off the bus and stayed in for the night after looking for a public phone in the area. It felt really great to have a warm shower and a clean bed after hours of non-stop travel.

Today we are about to go visit the Santa Elena Reserve and see if we can stay with them for the rest of the time. We can't wait to get to work and really explore the area we're in!
