Londondon To Seansea Train, UK
Right I seem to have got that sorted it must have a photo and a location before it will save.
This blog is to record our forthcoming trip to Spain and Portugal this summer. The transports are margaret and myself. John and Prue Ross and Morna and possibly a guest appearance by mark and joss.
I have been wrestling on all winter with every motorbike known to man on eBay to work out the best vehicle for this trip.
John has taken the out an out capitalist approach and bought himself a brand new triumph tiger right out the bubble wrap. It looks very nice even if the front end looks like an insect. I presume Ross is coming on his BMW 1200 "bigyin" although I know he has got a new project in the garage. I expect it has been too cold for much progress to be made with his most recent rebuild project, another Suzuki kettle. I think the next trip should be on bikes no younger than 30 years and I can bring a guzzi or two. The BMW is ideal in many ways but i don't think he really loves it like the kettles. It does have a face that only a mother could love.
I have also been looking at "adventure" bikes but the charlie and Ewan upright riding position uses my intervertebral discs as shock absorbers and I am much better with the leaning forward position on my Honda Vfr I have looked at a whole bunch of alternatives but nothing really trumps what I have got. I don't think there is anything much which will handle as well cope with carrying a pillion luggage
tent shoe collection little black evening number etc
and also be fun and comfortable.
Soit is the 1997 Vfr 750 in classy dark blue livery. I have just done a plugs and oil change. Traced an electrical gremlin to a rusty main fuse terminal put on stainless koni silencer and a flip up Windscreen bought some touch up paint and treated myself to a new Michelin pilot road rear tyre and will have to satisfy myself with that. To be honest I can't conceive of a machine that suites me or the purpose much better.
On the other hand perhaps John has got it right and you should buy a new bike every year on principle.
