Arrived in Liptovsky Hradok after a fantastic ride from the Czech Republic. We spent most of the journey on smaller roads which wound their way through farmlands, forests and picturesque towns. We saw imposing forts and monasteries perched high on the top of the rocks they were hewn from although they were in various states of repair they were still impressive monuments in the landscape.
We have met a number of fellow bikers already this trip who are touring around in between attend the Czech and Hungarian moto GP's. It is amazing how complete strangers will come over and introduce themselves and share highlights of their journeys. Today we met an Austrian biker who told us he and his friends were going to Romania when finding out we are making our way to Albania he informed us that his friend had been there last year and reported that the roads were Tarmac- good, the people were ok but reserved-good, and the petrol was ok- we hadn't given it any thought whatsoever, Colin fills up the tank and I pay for it!
On arrival here at our hotel, which again is part of an old castle- I will attempt to put a video on as it is fantastic! The receptionist was amazed to hear we had ridden from the Uk and upon finding out where our tour was going told us that she used to live in Croatia and a friend of hers has just returned from a bike tour of Albania; she then showed us photos of said bike trip and Albania looks stunning. According to the receptionist Albania is safe now but not over touristed! So that's good.
