Well we found out today exactly what our little red flashing warning was telling us- no rear ABS. We discovered this by having to execute two emergency stops with 20 minutes of each other this morning as we left Florence, thankfully the front ABS does work!
We have travelled north to Treviso which is a town which is built around canals and bridges almost a mini Venice. It is a medieval town but unfortunately most of it was destroyed during April 1944 but quite a number of buildings have been renovated and rebuilt.
We enjoyed a walk around the city walls and stopped at a cafe who played Edith Piaf, the Platters, Ella Fitzgerald and Dinah Washington other 1950 songs and artists! Unfortunately the waiters and waitresses here confirmed Colin's dislike of Italians, as initially no-one came to take our order and eventually Colin went to the bar to place his order. The next round we managed to order through the waitress but Colin noticed that every other table who were served also received crisps but we didn't, when we came to pay they gave us a bill which included the drinks we had already paid for; when we questioned this the waitress immediately reduced the bill with no quibbles, it was almost as if they were expecting us to pay the whole bill without question and when found out immediately capitulated.
The town is built over three rivers which flow under the houses and meanders through the town.
It was a tranquil place to relax before we explore the Dolomites and twisty mountain roads tomorrow as we resume our original itinerary.
