Every Tuesday in Bhutan is supposed to be dry; no alcohol served at least in the "cities." Out in the rural areas you can get by with a transgression and no fine, but it is a national attempt to help people realize they don't need to drink. This causes some consternation on the part of the beer drinkers in our group!
Still out the door by 5:00 am, back to yesterday's ridge. A few more new birds, a somewhat better view of the noisy Green Magpie. Intervals of sun alternate with downpours. Rain gear on, rain gear off, repeat. Through it all a Large Hawk-Cuckoo never stops singing "Brain Fever, Brain Fever". Drives us bonkers. Another warm breakfast and lunch along a turnout of National Highway (NH) 7. We can count on two hands the number of cars that pass us all morning.
Rewarded nonetheless by great views of the Long-tailed Broadbill, a spectacularly colored bird: long blue tail, green body, yellow face, little black football helmet, hard to photograph in the clouds.
A break this afternoon before another pre-dinner hike! I hope to catch up with this blog; the next few days are wifi-less.
