Today was an eventful day as Genny's portion of our vacation ended and she headed further south, and the girls and I headed to Amalfi and Positano by boat.
The first leg of the trip was 2 hours through the choppy ocean. Let's just say that some of the passengers (specifically two nice couples from Toronto) were jealous of the fact that we were wearing swimsuits (and didn't mind the water) and they weren't. We also seriously debated whether a bus back would be safer, but decided the boat was probably the lesser of the two evils.
Having finally arrived in Amalfi (our first stop of the day) relatively unscaved, we grabbed a quiet lunch of salad and squid pasta at a restaurant by the water. After lunch the beach beckoned us and we finally got some sun tanning time in our trip (1 hour after 14 days). Once beach time was over we rushed back to the boat, but not before grabbing extra cash from the machine (I'm not sure where all my money went already....) and seeing a couple taking wedding photos at a nearby church.
We nestled in for the 45 minute trip from Amalfi to Positano where we explored the city and shops (surprisingly enough no purchases were made) and grabbed a coffee at a nearby restaurant. I had the best coffee I've ever had, an espresso shot over vanilla ice cream, topped with whipping cream (who wouldn't love it?).
After our short stop in Positano we hopped back on the boat and headed back north to Sorrento at a leisurely pace, taking in the breath taking cliffs and sights along the coast line. As we pulled up to the harbour we were welcomed by a gorgeous rainbow, a sign of a happy ending to our adventerous day.
We arrived safely at our hotel just before dinner, happy to be on solid ground again, then headed out for our finaly dinner in the Amalfi coast before heading to Rome tomorrow (so excited)....
After dinner we wandered the streets and each accidentally walked away with limoncello and the same leather purse (different colours)..... oops....
