EUROPE TRAVELS
Buongiorno!
well i finally visited Italy and it was Bellissimo! (brilliant, basically). i was very jealous cause Mum, Dad and Em took off to Italy for a whole week without me and then i joined them for the 2nd week, as i had a week off work.
i joined them for the best bit on the Amalfi Coast. it was an amazing coast line; with houses dotted up the steep banks, windy narrow roads, pebbly beaches and lemons growing everywhere. Maybe my photos will do it a bit more justice!
i had fun finding my way to the amalfi coast. of course i had been given perfect step-by-step instructions from the rest of my family so it really wasn't too hard. my only difficulty was getting on the right train in Rome, i managed, but i also forgot that i had only bought a second class ticket and i decided to plonk myself and my bag in first class. thankfully i realised before anyone else did!
had a nice relaxing time in amalfi.. wandered round the little shops, swam in the sea, lay on the beach, drank coffee, ate heaps of italian food and tried to speak italian.
we visited the Isle of Capri - bit overrated and expensive if you ask me, but it was pretty nice.
following amalfi we travelled up to naples for 2 nights where we looked around Pompei and the museum. we ate more italian food (including the biggest pizza i've ever seen!)
before flying out we spent a day in Rome. Met up with Jono here and went to see the Vatican - i think we lined up for a good hour before we heard someone say the gates wouldn't open till 2. there were loads of people standing around and we soon discovered that there was some major event happening and we should have already had tickets. so we decided to see some of Rome by foot; and went to see the Colosseum instead - i thought this was just amazing. we managed to listened in on one of the other tours which added to it (you learn plenty of ways to do things on the cheap when you're travelling!)
Sorry for the repetition of stories; some of you probably already heard this from Jono; he actually beat me for once in getting an update out before me!
we spent a few more days back in london with mum and dad before they headed off which was great.
the next day it was good bye to our south african flat mate (Jacky). we decided to see "We Will Rock You" as a farewell - loved it!
i think that's all for now!
till my next big adventure....
