Last full day in the states today and I'm so sunburnt!!
It's been a pretty full ten days in and around Yardley, with lots of shopping!
The other day, I went out with Dom and his friends, Brielle, Greg and Lindsay and we crossed the Dellaware River, yes, like George Washington, to get to the island in the middle! it was crazy, we looked ridiculous with inflatables, noodles and a giant swan! greg is scared of water and im not too happy with it either after venice beach so the two of us were lead across by dom and lindsay while brielle caught it all on camera! when we finally got to the other side, we felt so proud and then realised we had to go back! we explored the island a bit, saw frogs and tadpoles and other cool stuff, brielle went on the rope swing, and after she hurt herself, no one else went on it! on the way back, we got half way before we realised the current was too strong, dom helped me across while greg waited in the middle for him to go back! we were knee-deep in mud, brielle lost a flip flop, i lost one and broke the other, it was great! interesting day at the river...
The five of us also went for a fancy dinner at the Moshulu, the boat from the Godfather. It was so nice, we were all pretending to be really rich, with our (non-alcoholic) cocktails! It was a really good night, and my only visit to Philadelphia.
The next day, my Aunty Sheila, Uncle Robert, Papa and I went to Cape May and Atlantic City. Cape May is an adorable little beach town, where we had some lunch. It was such a hot, sunny day. In Atlantic City, we went through the casinos, as I'm under 21, I'm not allowed to stop inside, but I can walk through. Casinos are crazy places, and these ones are massive! I saw a man sitting at a slot machine with his wheelchair and oxygen tank next to him, but he was still there! We wandered along the board walk and went into the Pier shopping centre, stopping for dinner in a nice Irish Bar.
On Tuesday, I went to the market with my Aunt and Papa. It was so big! In the afternoon, Dom, Brielle, Lindsay, Chris and I went to New York City. As we were pushed for time, I decided to do a tour while they went to the Hard Rock Cafe. The bus left Times Square and travelled to Penn Station and Madison Square Gardens, we passed the Empire State Building, Macy's department store, Soho, Madison Ave, Fifth Ave, Central Park, Chinatown, Rockerfeller Center, Brooklyn Bridge, but not the Statue of Liberty, I was supposed to go to the Yankees game but the tour overran because of traffic. It's okay though because they got beat anyway!!
King of Prussia is the most amazing shopping mall I've ever been too! Luckily, we didn't spend a long time there or I would have maxed out my credit card!! We went for a yummy chinese for a buffet dinner, it was insane!
A few evenings have been spent at Brielle's pool, just cooling off, or playing marco POLO!! Then going to Wawa for munchies and sitting in the back of Dom's truck (it's like an actual TRUCK) under the stars. Wawa is open 24 hours and is awesome, I love the French Vanilla coffees, it doesn't even taste like coffee.
Yesterday, Greg, Lindsay, Chris, Brielle, Dom and I went to Belmar beach and stayed at Greg's parents condo. As soon as we got to the beach though, the clouds came out. We went to an Italian for dinner and had a mini party with cake for Chris' birthday. There were birthday banners and balloons everywhere! We watched scary movies and all scared each other! This morning, we got up and went back to the beach! Much nicer today, and my arms are completely sunburnt!
I fly from JFK to Heathrow tomorrow, but still don't know when I'm back in Scotland, organised as usual!!
See you all soon! xxxx
