Day 23, 10th February
Up early today with a hangover after the buckets and had to meet with our dutch dive instructor at 9 am. He seemed a nice enough guy showing us how to set up and use the equipment etc. We broke for lunch and then headed out for our first dive at 12:30.
That's when it all started to go wrong we left the hotel beach by a tiny boat crammed with about 12 of us having to sit right on the edge of the boat...i thought i might fall in so was clinging on to the side lol. We were then transfered to a bigger boat which took us round the bay but considering they said it would be in shallow water as it was our first time i wasn't best pleased that i had to jump in from the boat away from the shore proving that we could swim. Mel and Richard had already jumped in but for some reason i couldn't bring myself to jump in from so high up and the instructor was really horrible telling me i either jumped in from that hight or left it as he wasn't a doctor and i clearly had issues with water.... feeling a bit dissapointed in myself I sat at the back of the boat giving him something other than joy and had a few tears.
I pulled myself together and watched Mel putting on her gear and jump off the boat for her first lesson. I Sat dangling my legs over the side in the sun for a while and then the other half of the group came back as they were dripping water all over me and one guy said i should be carefull of the sun i moved back to sit down. It wasn't long until Mel came back, I thought she was having a break but she was in a state now too. The horrible instrutor had a go saying he didn't understand why she couldn't breath properly under the water when she'd done it once before (once in her whole life....a******!!) anywho she'd had a go at him and told him he had an attitude and that he shouldn't teach people if he had no patience...hear hear!!!!
We had to wait for the rest of the divers to come back before we could go back to the hotel at 4pm so we just had to sit on the boat waiting.... all the while the instructor didn't even speak to us soooo rude. When we got back we gave the manager back his diving books and asked how much we had to pay for the room as we were checking out the next day. The room was 800 thb a night and as we had taken part in the classroom training and gone on the boat I had to pay and extra 1000 thb and Mel because she actually got in the water had to pay 2000 thb we weren't best pleased and decided not to spend anymore of our money in there hotel so we walked done the beach to another resturant on the pier for tea and a drink!
On our walk back from the resturant along the beach we found a wooden swing which we sat on for an hour or so slagging off the horrible instructor and the hotel manager!!
Day 24, 11th February
Today we got up earlyish to check out of the hotel and move to the nicer resort of Sairee beach. We had the taxi driver drop us off at the Sairee Cottages but the only room they had available was 2000 thb a night so we walked around trying to find somewhere a bit cheaper after about 2 hours of trapsing around in the heat we gave up at got a room not fair from the sairee cottages in a place called p****Tai we had a nice garden bungalow and the woman who ran it was really nice giving us a bottle of water near enough everyday.
After settling into our bungalow we grabbed some lunch and headed for the white sandy beach where we had nice bean bag beds to laze on. That night we went back to the the Bans/Fishbowl resturante to for and sat on the beach for the rest of the night drinking cocktails, listening to the live band and watching a fire show (the 2 guys that did it were brilliant and have some videos on my camera).
Day 25, 12th February & Day 26, 13th February
Both days much the same with planty of sunbathing and dips in the sea!!! Acommodation and boat booked for Koh Phangan.
The 12th we ate at the Seashells resturant where they were playing the movie Dear John we were a bit disapointed with the food and movie as it was really sad :o( we went back to our bungalow where we sat on our balcony drinking vodka and orange for a good few hours!! As the 13th was a Sunday and we were realling missing roast dinners we found resturante that did pork belly it had lush crackling and the waiter even asked us if we needed more gravy...of course we did!! After tea we felt a bit stuffed but still had some room for a vodka bucket so found ourselves back at the Fishbowl Bar again watching the fire show until 3am.
Day 27, 14th February
We slept in until 12:45 today think the 3am bed time tired us out. We had some lunch in Choppers and looked around the shops we soon realised it was 4pm and headed to the beach to have a drink no sun bathing today though as it was a bit cloudy still melting hot though.
Had our last meal in Bans resturant and decided we should really pack for moving on tomorrow, but instead we sat on our balcony and finished off our bottle of vodka.....well you cant leave it behind can you haha.
