Claire's Travels
Hi Everyone!
So last night was our final night as the whole group. (sob sob) The meal at the Gondola Restaurant was amazing - definately worth the $64 which included the gondola ride up there. There were so many courses - I managed 4, but most of the guys managed to put away 11! Not bad going really considering they had a massive Ferg Burger a few hours before.
Funnily enough we were the last people to leave the restaurant and one lucky waitress was given the task of taken photos with all our cameras! She began the task with a smile on her face...but that soon disappeared into some sort of grimace.
Obviously the night couldnt end there so we headed back to our local hang out - the World Bar - for a few more beverages and a little dance.
This morning our bottom bus was leaving at 7.45am so we got up nice and early to say goodbye to the girls and guys. It was really sad to think that we werent going to see these people again for a very long time....
....well this thought was short lived. We arrived at Info & Track (the place where the bus was going to be picking us up) and we asked the girls working there where exactly the bus would be. One of them said around the back of the office but we were pretty early for it. Ok so what was she talking about?? It was 7.40am -surely the bus would be here in 5mins. Oh no, the bus comes at 8.45am apparently!!! After us disputing that in fact we had been told 7.45am, the girl said that you shouldnt have been and can you remember who had said that. I told her that it was her. She tried to dismiss it until I showed her the piece of paper she had given me with the times on it. SHAME ON HER!!!
Anyway...we went and had breakfast and then headed back to the bus pick up only to see the rest of the group there waiting for their bus. So the sadness of the separation was short lived.
This happened again as we all met up again at a cafe. That was the final goodbye though!
Our first stop on the bottom bus was Dunedin that afternoon. Heather, Tash and I headed to the Cadbury;s factory. We were given a tour of the factory by some old guy dressed in a while roll neck and purple dungarees (sp?). What a dude! The tour was pretty pants but we did get free chocolate (that in fact we paod for as our entrance fee was $12.50!).
That night we went out for a meal which was lovely except that our waiter was a bit of a try hard...and actually a little creepy!
Tomorrow we move onto Curio Bay which is the furthest point south before you hit the south pole (except for a few random islands).
Hope you are all well! x x
