Hello,
Sorry for the delay in posting our blog but we are not going to be able to get on the Internet quite as much as we hoped due to the fact that the weather is too nice here to be stuck inside on a computer!!!
So we flew into Governors Camp's Runway on the 1st October for a 6 night stay and were transferred to Il Moran Camp (http://www.governorscamp.com/) which was absolutely stunning!!! The tents were so luxurious, with bath's in the tent as well as a massive wooden bed! We have encountered so many animals here from Hippos lounging on the side of the river bed that our dinner tables watched out on; to more lion encounters than we knew what to do with!, to the wildebeest migration with the crossing of the river resulting in a crocodile and a leopard eating a wildebeest each, to hippos chasing lions, 8 leopard sightings and a black rhino sighting. The amount of game here is amazing and our guide really knew his stuff and where to take us! There were so many things to tell everyone when we get back!
After a few final tweeks, the Wedding took place on Tuesday the 4th October. We started the day with a Hot Air Balloon Ride over the Masai Mara (starting at 05:20am) followed by a champagne breakfast cooked out in the bush. That was a seriously good start to our wedding day. We then went on a safari on our way back to camp where we spent the next few hours getting ready. And by "we" I mean Me, Mum, Vicki and Polly; Dad and Paul got ready in 5 minutes and spent the rest of the time drinking beer!!! Paul, Mum, Vicki and Polly were driven to the clearing where our wedding was to be performed which had been decorated with candles and flowers shortly followed by Dad and I in our decorated jeep!!! (Oh and a few minutes later the congregation of Mongooses turned up to watch!) We recited our vows overlooking the Masai Mara and finished it off with a Traditional Masai Blessing, song and dance! And shortly after the heavens opened Africa style!!! Luckily it only lasted for an hour or so and with massive thanks to Christophe our photographer we managed to get some truly stunning photos of some very moody African skied for our wedding photos. We then had a private BBQ style meal served on the verander of the tent which Vicki and Polly then had to have an armed guard outside all night because it had apparently attracted our resident Hippo family! We then had a safari in the morning followed by a Champagne breakfast served at where our ceremony was held! So all in all a fabulous wedding! Plus I get bonus points because I made Dad cry!!!!!!! It reaaly was the best and most emotional day ever and not one that we could easily replicate again!
Governor's were very kind and gave us a wedding gift of a book by Jonathan Scott on the Masai Mara and guess who we happened to bump into who was kind enough to sign it for us? That was very cool!!!
We are now at our hotel Pinewood Village in Mombassa for a week which is very very nice and a much needed place of relaxation after our safari and before we head off to Zambia for our Lion Volunteer Project. Lovely weather, pool and white beaches! Who could ask for more?
Hopefully going to get on to the blog once or twice a month so keep an eye out!
Lots of Love Claire and Paul!
P.s. Rachel if I could teleport home to be with you right now I would!!! XxX
