Apologies for the hideous lack of blogging lately - things have been pretty busy so now is the time to make up for it! Today we visited Perth Zoo, one of the original activities we'd wanted to do in the city, and home to the famous 'giraffe kiss' photograph. Google it and you will see what we mean about it being the cutest picture ever taken! The Zoo itself is on the opposite side of Swan River, which meant we had to take a ferry across. It was a bumpy ride but only cost a couple of dollars - and was a brilliant opportunity to see the entire skyline again from the opposite side of the river.
Perth Zoo itself is fantastic - we were both in the minds that it is one of the best zoos we've ever visited! They had every animal you could imagine, some of the highlights were:
* The elephants, who acted pretty much like giant dogs, doing tricks for treats and almost looking as if they were smiling at their trainers,
* Getting up close and personal to the rhinos (which are unnervingly HUGE) at dinner time,
* The bird section, where Liam was almost attacked by a not-so-friendly stork-like thing with claws,
* Simone the alligator, the biggest reptile you would ever see, who looked more like a dinosaur than a modern day gator! Very impressive, and very scary.
* The 3 tiger cubs, who were more full grown really, and very beautiful.
