Pulau Labuan, the garden island of Borneo - as it has been an outrageous 10 days since we were last at a beach and with it only being a boat ride away we decided to head here, to sunbathe on the white sands and swim and snorkel in the clear waters...obviously our plans never quite go to plan when moving, and we are now on the other side of Borneo, instead of a 3 hour boat journey west we took a 6 hour bus journey east, in the complete opposite direction of Pulau Labuan.

Basically the boat leaving was fully booked with the next available tomorrow afternoon, and with not wanting to stay in KK for longer, we caught the next bus out which took us to Sandakan!

Didnt arrive into Sandakan until 8.30pm and with it being like a morgue at night we checked into the first hotel in the lonelyplanet where we bagged ourselves a bargain - huge tv, sky, dvd player, 100's of films, aircon and attached bathroom. All for £6! Nice place, but the owner is the most helpful grumpy person you could ever meet!
