Hello
We've just arrived in Kuala Lumpur and checked into our hotel, right in the middle of China Town - back in the city again!! We can't really tell you much about it at the moment as we've only just arrived but first impressions are good, once you get out of the hustle and bustle!! However, we can tell you about our last few days prior to Malaysia....
We started our diving course on Friday and spent two days learning skills in the classroom and swimming pool - it was like being back at school again and we'll admit that for a while we weren't enjoying all the theory and homework, but we pressed on and after a minor delay with a back injury which Andy suffered we continued the next day and started all the cool stuff. On the third day we headed out on the boat to Phi Phi Islands and did our first dive to 12m for 45 minutes. This was the first and best dive as we saw a turtle, an octopus and loads of cool fish, we then did another dive that afternoon for an hour at Ao Nui beach which was still brilliant but as this was our second dive its wasn't as magical!
The next day we completed our final two dives and then returned to the classroom for the exam, which we were both dreading, however we completely surprised ourselves - i got 100% (boffin!) and Andy got 96% - not bad even if we do say so ourselves!!
So, we'll update you more once we know what Kuala Lumpur is like, unfortunately we hadn't got around to buying a Lonely Planet for Malaysia, but as luck would have it whilst i'm writing this Andy found a copy of one in the book swap, but with the whole of Chinatown (where we're staying) ripped out of it - excellent, good start!
Hope you are all well. Keep the messages coming.
Lots of love
Claire & Andy xxxxxxxxxxxxx
