Bear and Boots Excellent Adventure
Hi everyone! Thanks for all your msges they are cool!
Heres what we have been up to for the past few days:
Thurs 25th May
Went to the zoo next door today and it peed it down, silly monsoon season! You have to carry a brolly with you everywhere! Most of the animals were hiding cos they didn't want to get wet!
Went down sheep alley (full of sheep obviously) and then to Ashas house just round the corner. It is a really cool traditional Nepali house and has a temple thing in the courtyard. All the doors are really small and it is made of mud! It was really basic with hardly any furniture but we found it quite amusing that there was a telephone and t.v!
She made us traditional Nepali tea (like Chai Tea from Starbucks ha ha!) and told us all about Nepali life she is reallycheeky and funny.
Friday 26th May
Not feeling to good today, we had cream cake yesterday which we now realise was a bad idea doh! (It is now monday as we write and we are still running to the bathroom at short notice!!) Was bound to happen at some point. Anyway, took a class of 4 korean kids in the morning, just had to play skipping and chase with them which was quite difficult in the heat. They kept telling us what to do! Santos the little slave boy was watching out of his cupboard under the stairs and we wanted to invite him out but wern't allowed boo hoo!
We took our material we had bought to the tailors to get measured up for our Kurtars (Long tops). Will only end up costing us bout 9squid and it good fun designing your own stuff.
Got bus in aft to Godavari resort with the school senior management team, didn't do much in eve just watched movies on t.v!
Sat 27th May
Woke up to thunder and lightening. was wet for good part of the morn. Good thing about the monsoon is that the clouds finally clear and we got our first look at the himalayas! We saw the Langtang and Ganesh Ranges. (We are too far away to see Everest and may never see it cos of clouds boo hoo, but we will probably venture a bit nearer and get to see the Annapurnas sometime yay!)
Then we went swimming and had had a walk around the paddy fields/brickworks. Helly had her first leech attack eurgh! They are pretty harmless but it bled for ages. And I nearly fell of the muddy ledge into a paddy! Found out it is the year 2063 here too which is crazy!
Did a spot of sunbathing and then went for tea. Got a clearer view of the Himals too. (When we arrived we were impressed with the mountains, which we now know to be the foothills and Pimples as hels dad calls them! The real thing is crazily huge and poke out the top of the clouds!)
I know you think we talk about poo alot but tummy upset is quite commom thing here so there was lots of toilet talk around the table at tea:
Apparantly Nepalis didn't understand western loos when they first arrived as they just have a hole in ground. Men used to stand on the toilet seat to pee and women didn't understand which way round to sit! Kim who works at the school (a local Nepali) couldn't even find the loo, turns out the lid was just down!
Sunday 28th May
Brekkie at 8am and then went to happy clappy church service in morn.
Kim took us for another walk around the valley. Walked through a plantation of Marajuana tee hee! (For medicinal purposes of course!) Got chased by a scary dog and saw how the brickworks work.
Got bus back to Patan and I had a ride on hellys dads motorbike, tis fun!
Went to cool shop in afternoon and got lots of stuff for bout 3 quid its great!
Hellys family had some bad news today. Hellys Grandma (Kates mum) died. Kate will be returning to the UK on at the end of the week for a short while. Our thoughts are with the family.
Had bacon eggs and beans for tea which was amazing to not have anything spicy! Was probably a bad idea tho as lots of toilet trips followed shortly after!
Saw two Ghekos in the house tonight, they are cute! Watched a film and in bed for 11.
Hope you enjoy, leave us lots of message and are all okay!
Love Claire and Helly
