We arrived in Salta after a killer 12 hour bus journey through the whole day from Chile. It was delayed to start with by two hours, then we were held at Chile Immigration for two hours waiting for everyone to get their passports stamped, then we got to the Argentinan boarder we had to queue again! Oh and the bus drove sooo painfully slow between all of those bits! Well for majority of the journey really! Althou i should be pleased we made it. The driver drove straight for 12 hours without stopping! God knows how he managed it!
So anyway we met this couple on the bus from Liverpool and it was so nice to finally meet people who could speak full on english and we didnt have to simplify words etc! It turned out they were in the same hostel as us, in the same room! Ha! Strange!
First day in Salta me and the couple from Liverpool decided we would do a bungee jump as it is known here and listed as a must do! So we all walked the 12 blocks from the hotel to the main plaza to book it! It cost £28! Haha! Budget Bungee! We were going to actually die!
Salta's main plaza is so so nice, its quite European with the main square and just a load of coffee shops and resturants around the edge of it but i really really liked it! And it was HOT! Finally i was beginning the feel a bit of warmth! HEAVEN!
First night in Argentina meant only one thing! STEAK! We all went out and got very lucky and found this resturant with live music on and it was packed! Full of the locals so we thought it must be good! The guy singing was amazing and the steak was unfortunately only so so.. We had zero idea what we were ordering and we thought we had ordered what the majority of the other people in this place had.. But ohh no! We messed up! We ordered steak but it was the smallest, s***test steak ive ever had! We had thought we were ordering a platter so we were sharing one between two.. And im not kidding i was STARVING still after! On the plus side the wine was flowing!! And Argentinan wine is gooooodd! We then went to this other bar and had speed and vodka! Haha nope im not kidding, that is actually what we had! Although it wasnt actual speed.. Its an energy drink but we did all wonder for a moment when we ordered it because after all we are in South America! Ha!!
Because we are trying to save movey and Argentina is fairly expensive we decided that we would cook in the hostel! And OMG i have to say our cooking skills are UNREAL! Haha! We had steak (unbelievable and only cost £2) and jacket potato and a sauce! Wow! Best meal i think ive had since ive been away!
We havent stayed long in Salta because theres not that much to do here. Next stop is a 19 hour bus journey to Mendoza! And Mendoza means WINE!!
Speak soon! Muchos love.
