hey everyone! sorry its been so long! been busy and had an argument with the computer one night so never finished the blog entry and then lost it but anywho! now in fox glacier. last i talked to you we were in hanmer springs and since then we drove to westport, on the way stopping at a little rest area near a river where we discovered the west coast mozzies! so i decided to watch from the car. we stopped again at reefton a little coal mining village in the top of the mountains. it was very nice. we arrived in westport early afternoon so checkin in and heaed out to the cape foulwind seal colony where we saw a lot more seals than at kaikoura. the rain set in tho so we went for a drive round and saw some stuff then headed for dinner in a pub across the road. a big drive the following day stopping off at punakaiki (for breakie and) to see the pancake rocks and blw hole which unfortunately wasnt in action coz the tide was too low but we couldnt wait around for the high tide. we headed on to fox gacier driving thru frans joseph (the other glacier township) arriving mid afternoon. both mum and m had been quite sick so we put them to bed and me dad ann and phil went and explored the township and drove to the bottom of the glacier. we went to dinner at the local inn and the food was amazing. today we should have gone on a helihike up the glacier but the weather was too bad and rained quite a considerable amount with a lot of low lying cloud. o we visited frans joseph township and glacier and walked as close to the bottom as we could without a guide. we then headed back to fox glacier to show um (since she hadnt seen it yet) and did the walk most of the way to the bottom as well. ann, phil and m stayed in frans joseph a little longer and watched a glacier imax movie. we all headed to lake matheson which is a mirror lake in calm conditions and on a clea day u can see mt coo and mt tasman reflected on its surface. was still quite beautiful anyway. we went back to the same pub for dinner since the food was soo good. were booked on a 9am helihike tomoz which will hopefully go ahead as weather is forecast a lot better for tomoz. but we also have a 6hr drive to queenstown so is possibly going to be a very big day with a late arrival in queenstown. will update again soon! luv kt
