Packing my bags, leaving the town where I feel most comfortable and saying goodbye to my Family and friends is where this adventure all started. Spending the final moments at the airport with my family, giving those final hugs and saying see you later with a massive smile on my face full of excitement as I walk through the international doors in the airport. Before I even made it to customs I got picked for those random bomb tests, not once, but TWICE! Yes twice! Me thinking I couldn't possibly get picked for anything else, then this young guy who worked in the airport came over and randomly picked me to go through the big scary customs where they look for drugs/bombs. So out of the 3 tests I got picked for ALL THREE! Having a bit of a laugh to myself I came to the conclusion that I must look like a criminal who would try smuggling drugs or bombs through.
After I eventually got through customs I just sat down and charged my phone. Relaxed for a bit. Still full of excitement and just waited. Waited until 11.15pm when we started boarding the flight. Walking onto the plane is where everything became real. This is where the long flight from Melbourne to Venice started and the mixed emotions started. I was excited, nervous, anxious, happy & tired. During the flight I met two English girls, they were really nice and were flying home from Australia. Getting to Doha Airport for my two hour layover I was nervous, not knowing where to go I walked around until I found my gate. Then sat and waited. The six hour flight from Doha to Venice seemed to drag! I was just so excited to get off that plane. Arriving here in Venice all I could think was how excited I was but still not knowing what to expect, not knowing what lies ahead of me. Just listening to everyone speak this beautiful language.
The family Im going to work as an Au pair for met me at the airport. On the way home I just kept looking out the window. Getting lost in the scenery, how different this place is to Australia. Thinking how excited I am to go exploring. My first dinner here at the home was PASTA! Yes, pasta! It still feels surreal that I'm in Italy!
Ciao ciao for now :)
